Ahead of the 2024-25 hockey season, the Holy Family Catholic High School boys hockey team unveiled a fully renovated locker room at the Victoria Recreation Center (Vic Rec Center), designed to enhance the team’s experience on and off the ice. The extensive updates were part of a broader effort to provide players with a top-tier environment that fosters camaraderie, pride, and focus.
Head Coach Zack Friedli emphasized the importance of the project, saying, "Holy Family offers a first-class experience for students in the classroom and on campus, and our goal is to provide a second-to-none experience in the hockey program when the players are at Vic Rec Center. Renovating the locker rooms was at the top of our priority list."
The renovations included removing the old lockers in both the JV and varsity locker rooms and replacing them with new, modern ones. The JV locker room received a fresh coat of paint, while both spaces were updated with wall wrappings, signs, and banners that reflect the school’s spirit and hockey tradition. Additional upgrades included the installation of a sound system with speakers and a receiver, seat back pads, door wraps, and a game-day curtain in the hallway, which adds an extra touch of excitement to match preparation. Players also bid farewell to outdated wall graphics and a TV, making way for a sleeker and more unified aesthetic.
Senior defenseman and Team Captain Carson Moe spoke about the impact of the renovations on the team’s dynamic. "The new locker room has changed many aspects of our team, from the culture to the way we work to make the team stronger," Moe said. "As players, we absolutely love the updated space—it brings a lot of energy and creates an atmosphere we’ve worked hard to deserve. We’re truly grateful for the time and effort that went into remodeling it."
With these updates, the locker room now serves as a hub for team building, reflecting the program's commitment to excellence both on and off the ice.
